If you have one or multiple pets, you'll need to select models with efficient filters that can remove allergens such as pet hair and dander. These models will reduce the frequency of cleaning the brush bar and emptying the trash bin.
Look for smart home connectivity to allow remote start, schedules, and even customizations through the app. You should look for a model that has mop attachments as well, for extra surface cleaning.
1. iRobot Roomba i7+
The Roomba i7+ is among the most powerful self-emptying robot vacuums that are available. It has a redesigned robotic vacuum that comes with Clean Base automatic dirt disposal with ten times more suction power than the previous models, and Dirt Detect to highlight particularly dirty spots on carpets or bare floors. You can use the companion app to set the robot's schedule, create virtual barriers with persistent maps (it remembers the layout of your home so it can clean around furniture) or make use of voice commands.
The i7+ looks very similar to earlier iRobot models. When you flip it over, you'll notice that the rubber rollers which draw dirt in now have more refined chevrons. The i7+ also comes with an external dirt bin, rather than a built-in dustbin, so it can hold more debris, and it can be empty manually or automatically.
You'll have to sign up and download the iRobot App before you are able to use the i7+. After that, you'll need to connect the i7+ to your Wi-Fi network and follow the on-screen instructions to set up its various features. You'll need to give the robot a name, and select the color scheme for your room.
The i7+, just like other iRobot robots, is a little noisy when moving. It is quieter than most robots in the market. The i7+ is able to be scheduled to run in the evening or during lunch breaks You can also schedule regular cleaning sessions. This could include a daily inspection of the cat's cage or a weekly cleaning of the living space.
The i7+ also has a smart mapping feature that lets you build an outline of your home and train the robot so that it knows where it is. It then can navigate more efficiently by avoiding obstacles such as chairs, beds, or sofas. You can also add "Clean Zones" and "Keep Out Zones" to instruct the robot to focus its efforts. You can alter the amount of traction as well as the strength of the brush.
2. Eureka Groove
This vacuum cleaner is priced at an affordable price tag compared to many of its competitors, but it has a lot of features. It's well-built, easy store, and can be used even without an internet connection. However, it has a difficult time clear pet hair on all surfaces, and isn't very good in navigating around obstacles. It also has smaller dirt compartments and doesn't have an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. Additionally its navigation system isn't very sophisticated and it can get stuck in coat racks and under chairs.
Despite these limitations Customers have given the Groove high marks for its suction power and versatility. It is particularly effective at removing dust, dirt and pet hair from low pile and unfinished flooring carpets. It can also be used to clean upholstery and furniture as well as remove mites and other irritants from fabrics. It can be operated in four different ways, allowing you to schedule cleanings through the Eureka app, or control it via Alexa or Google Assistant. The Groove has an remote control that provides basic functionality if you don't own a smartphone or prefer to use it manually.
The Groove is an excellent option for anyone looking for a simple, hassle-free way to keep their home tidy. Its battery life is good and can last for more than an hour at the highest power setting and two hours or more when in energy-saving mode. It has a transparent dust container that allows you to see when the dust is either full or empty.
The Groove has a plastic body with brushed and matte finish accents that feel fairly solid. It's small and can be placed in a closet or cabinet. It's also quite light at 4.9 pounds, making it simple to move and carry. The components are delicate, and some, such as the dust cup lid and the brushroll compartment, could be susceptible to scratching or cracking. Also its charging pins sensor and brushroll are all able to be accessed for maintenance and robotvacuummops should be cleaned with a dry, clean cloth frequently.
3. Shark IQ Robot Self-Empty XL
Robot vacuums can save time in cleaning, but they require regular emptying and add an additional task to your list of things to do. The Shark IQ Self-Empty XL, RV1001AE is more self-sufficient than the other models. It has a large dust bin that can be cleaned only once per month. It's also quick and efficient, rarely is stuck and can be connected to Amazon Alexa to allow you to control it using your voice. It also comes with the recharge-and-resume option that allows the vacuum to return to its base and pick up where it started when it is running out of battery.
This vacuum works well on unfinished floors, effortlessly eliminating pet hair as well as small debris like rice and cereal. However, it has a difficult time with heavy materials and its dirt bin can get very full. It's a robust device with a long battery however, it isn't able to climb over low obstacles such as power cables. The cost of maintenance and replacement is very high.
The IQ Robot has a variety of automated features including a scheduling function that allows you to create weekly and monthly Revolutionize Cleaning with Roborock Q Revo: Auto-Drying Robot Vacuum schedules. The app is simple to use and allows you to see your cleaning history as well as any notifications of errors. The vacuum can also be controlled using Alexa or with an accessory remote, which could be beneficial for families with busy schedules.
The different power modes (Eco Normal, Eco, Max) did not affect cleaning performance or noise level in our tests. Its Auto Mode automatically adjusts suction power to match the surface being cleaned, while its Boost mode gives more suction for harder surfaces.
The Shark IQ is a good alternative to the iRobot Roomba i7, which we scored higher in our tests due to a number of reasons. The i7 feels more robust and has a larger external dustbin attached to its base station that holds more than double the capacity of the bagless dustbin, and delivers superior performance on carpets with high pile and bare floors. It is faster to charge and has a greater maximum battery life. However, it's not as self-sufficient in creating virtual boundaries or no-go zones like the Shark.
4. Eufy RoboVacX8
The eufy RoboVac X8 is an excellent vacuum that can also be used as mop. It is a higher-end model than the less expensive RoboVac G30 and the eufy RoboVac 15C. It has higher performance and more advanced automation features. It also has superior battery performance. A solid blue indicator light on the dock displays when the robovac is charged or the battery is running low. When the robot is low on battery, it automatically returns to its dock and recharges itself, taking around four hours. The robovac also has the suction power 'Max' mode to tackle larger amounts of dirt and debris and an eco mode for light cleaning duties.
It's got a decent maneuverability which allows it to move around furniture. The robot's LIDAR sensor is excellent at mapping the floor, and its 'BoostIQ' feature can adjust suction levels automatically to fit different surface types. However, it is prone to bump into obstacles such as its own charging station and may become stuck on electrical cords or rug tassels. The eufy Home app makes it simple to divide the floorplan into rooms and areas and create no-go zones.
During testing, eufy RoboVac was able of absorbing a large amount of hair from pets as well as other dirt, without losing suction. Its UltraPack Compression system increases the capacity of the dustbin by reducing the amount of times it needs to be emptied. The robovac can be controlled via voice via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
The elegant RoboVac is designed in a retro style with black and gold lines that are angled upwards towards the silver eufy Logo on top. The side panels are designed similarly with rounded corners as well as an enclosed dustbin. It is not as well-designed and elegant as other robots, but it does have a sleek style that blends in with the majority of homes. It is compact and lightweight and can be easily transported up and down stairs. It is also extremely quiet. Its only drawback is that it does not come with an dual-purpose dust bin and charge.
