For pets that shed fur A robot vacuum/mop combination is one of the best robot vacuum for pet hair wirecutter floor cleaning options. It can mop, vacuum and clean its own dual mop pad.
It also has 8,000Pa suction which is the highest of any robot we've examined. It also can save maps of your home and create cleaning schedules through its app.
1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs line of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This wet/dry model comes with the upgraded AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system Ecovacs, which gives enhanced mapping and obstruction-free operation. The system is equipped with dual laser LiDAR, similar to that found in self-driving vehicles. It can scan an area that is up to 32 feet by the 270-degree angle. This results in more precise mapping, faster response time, and better cleaning accuracy.
It also comes with a rotating mopping mat constructed of chenille. This makes it easier to scrub hard-to-clean areas than traditional mopping. During my testing the X2 Omni took just over an hour to clean its pad and begin work, and I noticed it was more precise than previous models that seemed to follow a gridded path around rooms. It was able to navigate around corners and edges of my rooms and also create "Zambani patterns" up and down the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station frequently to empty the trash bin and clean the mop using hot water prior to beginning another cleaning job.
The X2 Omni is just as easy to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. Simply snap the dock into place connect it to the power outlet and connect it to your WiFi network at home. It takes only about a minute. After that, you can start the app and start with your first cleaning project. I was able dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan in less than 15 minutes, including creating restricted areas for sweeping and mopping and reworking my furniture placements, and so on. The X2 Omni impressed me in my tests. It scored high in the areas of pet hair removal as well as debris removal, and also was near-perfect in its results for edge and crevices cleaning.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The T10 Omni from ECOVACS is an extremely powerful vacuum and mopping machine. It is the most advanced of the T-line of the brand and comes with the latest OZMO Turbo 2.0 mopping system that utilizes dual-spinning brushes to provide more effective cleaning than traditional oscillating scrubbing. It also has YIKO built-in, a first-of-its-kind natural language processing technology that allows it to respond to a wide range of voice commands. You can make use of the ECOVACS app to map your home, establish cleaning schedules, and adjust settings.
The main drawback of the T10 Omni is that it's unable to switch between mopping and vacuuming in a single run. The two modes require that you attach and take off the mop heads as you need to which is great for most homes but not a good fit for people with busy lifestyles.
The Deebot T10 is an excellent robot vacuum that delivers impressive results. It was able to remove more than 96% of the debris we tossed at it our hardwood floors which is an impressive performance. It also did a fantastic job on carpet and tile cleaning up more than 99% of dirt and dust.
This robot vacuum and mops comes with large docking systems that allows for automatic cleaning using cool mop pads. It also has an auto-emptying 3L bag that is easy to replace, and hot air drying for fast and simple maintenance. It also has a large water tank that permits more frequent rinses and dries between mopping runs.
Like other mopping machines, the Deebot T10 Omni features a wash tray in its base that rinses and dry its mop pads as it utilizes them. It does not have a removable tray so dirt, dust and other grime will gradually build up on the bottom.
3. RoboVac X8 Hybrid
While the Anker-owned Eufy is well known in the field of robot vacuums but this model is its first foray into the world of mopping. It offers upgraded smarts, multiple maps support and LIDAR scanning, in addition to twin-turbine suction technology that adjusts to the floor you're cleaning. It's a great mid-range robotic vacuum cleaner however it doesn't meet its promise of being an all-in-one solution for floor cleaning.
The X8 Hybrid looks like a regular robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape with sweeping wheels and an elevated area for sensors. However, flip it over there's an electric floor brush as well as a single side sweeper brush which pushes dirt from the edges into the main path of the robot's'mouth'. It's a little smaller than the main brushes on the competing iRobot Roomba S9, which I discovered makes it easier to fit under couches and chairs.
The mapping system is quite sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones as well as specific cleaning zones. However, it has a tendency to hit things (including its own charging dock) and isn't always adept in climbing over rugs. It did a good job of picking up pet hair on floors that were not paved However, during our tests, it took in 89.5 percent of litter, which puts it ahead of all but the strongest robots we've tested.
The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, but it also has a set of physical buttons on its base. These buttons let you select a cleaning mode or turn the robot off/on. These buttons can be used to create areas that aren't allowed to enter and look up maps in real-time. It's also a bit chatty and will inform you of what it's going to do next (start cleaning) or notify you if something isn't working.
4. ILIFE A4s
This high-tech model sucks up pet hair, kibble and other messes with remarkable efficiency and maneuvers flawlessly around furniture legs. It comes with a feature set that is impressive, such as two cleaning modes as well as an automatic docking station and a real-time obstacle avoidance system. It's Wi-Fi enabled and best controlled using the Neato app where cleaning can be scheduled and overall maintenance needs be monitored. The X2 Omni is an excellent choice for homes that have a a mix of hard floors and carpet, but it requires some advanced planning to avoid getting stuck on toys, power cords or other unexpected obstacles.
In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble, this robot performed well and picked up everything from one grain of rice to multiple pieces of dog food in one pass. It had some trouble transitioning to rugs, however, in general, this vacuum cleaner is great for large spaces with both types of flooring and a mix of pets.
It's not cheap, but if you can handle the cost it's a great purchase for those who want to be able to leave their homes completely free to perform other tasks or take care of chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to tackle the most difficult spills or dirt. It also comes with a battery powered ElectroWall to set boundaries for the robot.
This budget-friendly option from a well-known upstart brand is the cheapest robot we've ever tested and provides an exceptional value for the price. Its basic navigation system uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, making it less time efficient than other models on this list. However it's still able to navigate under furniture and into corners, and its mopping mode performed well during our tests it picked up pet hair and other debris easily.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ isn't as sturdy as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It does a better job of cleaning carpets with low piles as well as floors that are not covered. It also utilizes intelligent-pathing navigational software to improve maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and comes with a range of advanced automation options, including no-go zones and schedules. It also lets you pause and resume a cleaning session which is ideal for households with pets.
The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates tangles and can carry up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It comes with of angled side brushes that can reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, allergens, and dander.
The robot vacuum feels sturdy and well-built, and it works with a smartphone app that lets you change its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning times in advance. The app allows you to check the remaining battery life of the iQ and receive push notifications when it encounters any problems during a cleaning session. You can also control it using your voice using an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device. If you don't have either of these devices you can mark the boundaries of your area by using physical boundary markers.
The iQ does a good job of cleaning floors and doing a fair job on low-pile and shaggy carpet however, it doesn't have the same degree of autonomy as our top picks. It's also costly, and its recurring costs can add up over time.
